Beautifully simple software that helps you do your hiring
Workable is a beautifully simple recruiting software for fast-growing companies. It replaces tedious enterprise software and excel sheets with a straightforward tool that your team will actually enjoy using. From career pages and job board syndication to collaboration, scheduling, social recruiting and analytics, Workable has everything you need to manage your recruitment, and nothing you don’t.
For years, we recruited for fast-growing companies. Went through thousands of resumes, down bottomless mail threads and countless job boards, each with its own posting structure. Roughed it with tedious applicant tracking software, the obligatory excel files on-the-side and the impossible coordination of interviews and feedback.
At some point, it got personal. We’re software-makers. We could do better than that.
Recruiting software as it should be
We dreamt of software that’s already hooked up with major job sites and candidate sources. Single-submission job postings, search-optimized job descriptions, free job boards and bulk discounts.
We imagined a life where you don’t need an entire weekend to read through a pile of resumes. Someday, we believed, humans would encounter alien races with business software that works. Recruiting software that lets you browse through candidates much like the social networks we Earthlings have for flipping through our friends and contacts.
We wanted auto-updating career sites that integrate with our own web pages. Good-looking job ads. One-click applications. Historical timelines of who shortlisted which candidate, when and why. Really crazy stuff like having all the feedback in the candidate’s profile from all our team, with email notifications on our smartphones and interview scheduling hooked up on our calendars. Unlimited collaborators, mass emails, templates, statistics and all sorts of magic stuff.
The truly audacious among us believed that we don’t really need those PDFs with a summary of a person’s biography. They said that one day people will have “profiles” with this information online. That they would send us their “profile” data, which looks a lot like a resume. That we’d be able to “message” them from inside the hiring software, and use “comments” to keep track of progress with each candidate. It would be as simple as using Facebook or Twitter. We would even combine the old PDFs with not one, but many different online profiles, to get a full view of each candidate.
The really crazy ones said this would all be wrapped inside a beautiful design that doesn’t look like business software at all – with intuitive controls, natural workflows and language that people understand. Friendly customer service with hiring expertise would answer your emails in minutes. They’d pick up the phone and help you organize your own recruitment the way you need it. Double rainbows would float in the skies and rivers would be made of milk and honey.
Just for laughs, we would imagine small and medium businesses without a big HR department, sometimes without even an HR manager, setting up a well-rounded recruiting process in less than a day. They would spend $99 a month and they’d get the kind of recruiting system big companies pay millions for. Owners and managers saving hours every week, HR folks impressing the CEO, line managers not hating to update their interview notes, positions being filled faster and job advertising costs being slashed down.
Recruiting made Workable
And yet, here we are. And here it is. The recruitment software we would want to use ourselves: simple, efficient and gorgeous. It has everything hiring managers need, and nothing they don’t. It does the boring stuff for them so they can focus on finding the right candidate. It’s built for teams. It’s on the cloud, it’s cheap, it doesn’t need a manual, it gets the job done. It’s Workable.
